Library, August 8th.
I learned many things today during my trip at the library. One thing I learned today was that the library has many references that you can find online at the public library website, I found so many that helped me so much, and many refences that I couldn't find before. I also learned that each library branch has different research topics that you can look up.

Assignment 3.
Response to "The Kitchen of Meaning" by Roland Barthes:
Barthes explains how everything, texts, ojbects, images, music, etc all have meanings and signs within them without us realizing it. There is always a sign and a message when you see something, for example, a expensive car shows us that the owner of the car is rich/has money, on the other hand if you were to read a passage or a book, you would find a meaning that you learn, also meanings within the text that you are reading. If you were to hear a song, you would find a meaning to it in the end. All of us are so used to the way we view things, it doesn't occur to us to look beyond our thinking. Meanings of things dont just come to us, it takes time to observe and understand why it's the meaning and how. As we grow older, we are expanding our thinking.

August 2, Assignment.
Closest library branches:
The location of the closest public library branch around my house is at 41-17 Main Street
Flushing, NY 11355, and the closest CUNY library branch around my house is at Queens College at 65-30 Kissena Blvd Flsuhing, NY 11367
Research assignemnt topic:
The topic I chose for my research assignment is about Romeo and Juliet, how love is very strong and can make you do crazy things to yourself and others without realizing it. I chose this topic because I believe love is something everyone needs to grow up happy and confident. Many people believe that killing yourself for another is something stupid and pointless to do when there are other fishes in the sea. True love has it's risks, if you really do love each other, sometimes you lose all sense of control and do something you might regret. I believe this topic is very important, you see people commiting suicide everyday just because of their relationship problems, Romeo and Juliet really do show their love for each other and I believe what they did for each other is unforgettable.
Response to Professor Michael Wesch's Youtube video "The Machine is Us/ing Us":
This youtube video teaches its viewers how different it is to put something on the web than publish something in a book or newspaper. It shows us how we can post one thing on the internet, and it can be changed completely. The font can be minimized or made bigger, the words can practically be designed in all different shapes on a computer unlike if it was published in paper. He states how HTML changed words completely, making them bold, italic, paragraph form and etc. Everything that is posted on the web spreads faster than anything in the world, more than a billion people go on the web daily, imagine all the information that can be spreading from one place to another, computers have corrupted us and the way we share our ideas with one another.
